Frequently asked questions

  • Why should I use your service? Why not somebody else?
  • Because we are gamers and we know how important your gaming is to you. That's why we have done everything we can to ensure your gaming data is prioritized above any other traffic on our network. We put gaming first, not last, because we can, and because we want to. Isn't it about time you joined us?
  • Why do I need to pay for a 'low contention' line?
  • Because high contention means more people sharing your bandwidth. Which means when the internet is busy you may find your connection slowing down and becoming almost unplayable. By having lower than normal contention we reduce the effects and provide you with a faster, more stable platform for your gaming. We could offer higher contention ratios, as most other providers do, it would be cheaper, but it would not be good for gaming. So we don't.
  • Why pay for high speed when my 2Mbs connection works ok?
  • You're right. But your 2Mbs line is probably restricted to an upload speed of 256K. This is frankly not enough to support many games that use one person’s PC or Console as the game server for the other players. Our upload speed of up to 800K is a more realistic option. To be honest, 2Mbs download would be plenty for most games, but we offer 8Mbs because it’s the best and most widely available high speed connection. In fact, if you opt for a 'regular' 8Mbs line from anyone else you will normally only get up to 400k upload, or half of what we offer! And if you want to host multiplayer games you need as much upload as you can get.
  • What else do you do for gamers?
  • One of our core goals is to ensure we always use the shortest possible route for your data. We have direct access to all the major data carriers that converge in London, which means your data will go onto the internet backbone using the shortest possible route. In this way we keep lag and latency to a minimum. We also use 'fastpath' connections between you and your local exchange. This helps to reduce latency further.
  • What about downloads, what’s your policy?
  • Our policy is simple. You get 50Gb of download per month. If you go beyond that figure you will be charged £1 inc VAT per extra Gb used. It does not 'rollover'. If you fail to use all 50 Gb it will not be added to your next month's allowance. But 50Gb should be more than enough for most people. If you do download more than that every month you would be better off looking elsewhere. Your gaming may suffer if you join another ISP that is overflowing with torrent users, but it's your choice at the end of the day.
  • How long do I have to stay with you if I decide it's not for me?
  • One month. That’s why we ask people to pay a set-up fee. What most ISP's do is absorb the fixed costs of transferring or setting up a new line into the first year's payments. We don’t. We ask you to pay up front. Then, if you decide to leave, you can. It makes the process very simple. If you have an existing ADSL connection it will cost aboout £15 to transfer to us (assuming your present ISP will let you go), if not a "new" connection will cost £45.
  • Do you do webhosting? What about other services?
  • No. We dont do anything else. We are totally focused on providing the very best connection you can get for Xbox Live (TM) gaming. Anything else is secondary. When it comes to choosing an internet connection for gaming, cheapest is not always the best. We are. You may see several other providers claiming they are 'perfect for gaming', but we would advise you to actually examine what you will be getting first. If it doesn't have high upload speeds and low contention combined with prioritization for your games then it probably isn't! Please don't get fooled.
  • Do you play online yourself?
  • Yes. At last count our Technical Director had played over 13,000 game sessions across a variety of platforms in order to research our services. He's pretty good at Halo3 (or so he says..) and in the near future we hope to provide some sponsored prizes at major online and LAN party events. Eventually we hope to have our own sponsored team.

Happy gaming, and see you online.
